In 2009, on the 14th Birthday of my son Abhishek, I had gifted him an organisation. Yes, you have read right. NOT a guitar, not a DVD, not a cake. An organisation. I told him let's start this together and you continue after I leave this world. The organisation is called Kindness Foundation. In one word the organisation would engage in acts of Kindness.
Subsequently, I wrote to the then Governor, Shri Gopal Krishna Gandhi and in a letter, he asked me to think about the following: Is the natural instinct to be kind, served better by institutionalizing 'kindness'? Once an institution becomes a Foundation it has to be subject to all the institutions of such an organization. However, I did meet him and discussed the matter and shared my views. Kindness Foundation continued and works on different levels. However, one of the mission statements of the organisation is NOT to write about the work ... the organisation also does NOT give bragging rights to any of its members. Kindness as our past Governor underlined: can and should be recognized by the recipient of it, not by the giver.
We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments.
But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.
